STOP USING BLUE TAPE

You know the system. A strip of masking tape on the carboy, the date and the varietal in Sharpie, and a promise to yourself that you'll write the rest down later. Then the tape peels in the humidity. You rack into a fresh carboy and the tape stays behind on the old one. And three batches into the season, you're standing in the cellar trying to remember whether that's the cab or the merlot, and when you last topped it up.

Compass is the fix. Not a notebook you'll forget to open: a system that lives on the vessel and moves with the wine.

Mounts attach permanently to your vessels. Install them once and every fermenter and carboy in your cellar is ready to be tracked, forever.

Trackers snap magnetically onto any Mount and carry your Recipe Card in a locking clip. When the wine moves, the Tracker moves with it.

Recipe Cards hold the batch's full plan: every step, in order, distilled by a home winemaker with more than a decade of vintages behind him, with the optional steps marked as optional. Check them off as you go.

Archive Sheets stay in the Vault, collecting the numbers while the batch is alive and the tasting notes for years after it's bottled. Recipe Cards are stickers; at bottling, the card peels off the Tracker and sticks onto that batch's Archive Sheet, so the plan and the record end up permanently on one page.

The key distinction: Mounts belong to your vessels. Trackers belong to your batches.

In the box: 3 Mounts · 1 Tracker · 15 Recipe Cards (5 Red, 5 White, 5 Professional) · 15 Archive Sheets · 1 Vault 3-ring binder · 1 pen

ONE BATCH, TRACKED END TO END

Three Mounts cover the vessels one batch actually lives in: the primary fermenter, and the two carboys you rack back and forth between for the rest of its life. One Tracker moves with the wine each time.

That's the whole reason it's magnetic. Racking isn't a one-way trip: you'll do it four or five times before bottling, and every time, the label problem starts over. With Compass it takes a second: pull the Tracker off one carboy, snap it onto the other.

Running two or three batches at once? Add a Tracker for each, plus Mounts for the vessels they'll live in.

WRITING THAT SURVIVES THE CELLAR

Recipe Cards live on the vessel, so they're vinyl: spills, condensation and a sanitizer-soaked rag do nothing to them. The included pen is ultrafine and water-resistant, chosen for that surface. Archive Sheets never go near the wine, so they're heavy stock instead: better to write on, built to survive years of handling in a binder.

Mounts and Trackers are powder-coated aluminum, which doesn't rust in a humid cellar. Mounts bond with 3M VHB, the adhesive used in automotive assembly.

THE FUN PART

Once it's bottled, the record keeps going. The back of every Archive Sheet is built for drinking the wine: tasting notes, food pairings, what it was like at one year and at three.

Ten batches in, that's the thing you'll actually value: not one good bottle, but a Vault you can pull off the shelf and read.

BUILT TO LAST

Made and assembled in Colorado with imported hardware, and backed by the Blushworks Lifetime Warranty. Mounts and Trackers are made to outlive every batch you'll put through them.

WARNING — INTERNAL INJURY HAZARD

Compass Mounts and Trackers contain strong neodymium magnets, permanently set into the aluminum.

Swallowed magnets can damage internal organs and have resulted in death and serious injuries. These are not toys. Keep away from all children and pets.

Never put magnets near your mouth or nose. If you think a magnet has been swallowed, seek immediate medical attention or contact poison control right away — X-rays or prompt surgical removal may be required. Do not wait for symptoms. Symptoms are often non-specific (abdominal pain, fever) and can take hours to weeks to appear, by which point damage can be severe.

The magnets in Compass products are bonded in place and not intended to be removed. If a magnet ever works loose, stop using that Mount or Tracker, retrieve the magnet, and store it away from children — then get in touch and we'll replace the part under warranty.

Also keep Mounts and Trackers clear of pacemakers, defibrillators and other implanted medical devices, and away from credit cards, hard drives and other magnetic media.
